Following the confirmation of hosting, representatives of the IEA successfully completed their first official visit to Belgrade. During this visit, together with the team of the Serbian Association of Economists, led by its President Aleksandar Vlahović, a series of intensive working meetings were held, focusing on both the programmatic and organizational aspects of this prestigious event.

The preliminary Congress agenda has already been defined, and more than 1,000 distinguished economists from the world’s most prestigious universities and institutions are expected to attend.

The Program Committee is chaired by Professor Eric Maskin of Harvard University, a Nobel Laureate in Economic Sciences. The Congress is also expected to welcome several other Nobel laureates, as well as numerous experts who have held top advisory positions in leading economies worldwide.

This will be the first time that the IEA World Congress is held in the Western Balkans region, as well as its return to Europe after two decades. The Congress represents a unique opportunity to strengthen ties between universities in Serbia and the region with the global academic community, as well as to foster meaningful dialogue among policymakers, the business community, and leading economists.
