The goal of this organization, which gathers the most eminent national economic associations, is to affirm the importance of economic science for the development of the global society and to address current global economic problems, as well as to encourage constructive cooperation among economists worldwide by organizing scientific gatherings and joint research programs and by publishing international publications. Special attention was devoted to the problems of the developing countries and considerable efforts were expended to include economists from these countries in the work of the Association, with the help of the subsidies granted by UNESCO, World Bank, European Commission and other international organizations.

Every three years, the International Economic Association organizes the World Congress, a global event attracting not only the academic community, but also eminent economists from nonacademic institutions, such as central banks, multilateral institutions and other public institutions worldwide, with the aim of exchanging ideas and opinions on today’s key economic issues.

By participating in the activities of this organization in the upcoming period, the SAE and its members will have the opportunity to exchange ideas and good practice with their international colleagues, and try to bring them closer to the creators of economic policies in Serbia.
