After a long and serious illness, Mr. Danijel Cvjetićanin, a longtime professor at the Faculty of Economics, University of Belgrade, died on Sunday, February 3rd.

A ceremony to commemorate the death of Professor Cvjetićanin was held at the Serbian Association of Economists. Aleksandar Vlahović, Jurij Bajec and Miodrag Zec spoke about Professor Cvjetićanin in the presence of numerous colleagues, friends and admirers.

It was emphasized that, in addition to his academic career, Professor Cvjetićanin worked as an economic adviser to the Serbian Government and the President of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. As the associate of the Institute of Industrial Economics and the Economics Institute, Professor Cvjetićanin participated in designing numerous projects dealing with regional economic development, formulation of economic policy and restructuring of large enterprises. He was part of the team that developed the Stabilization Program of Governor Avramović in 1994. In 1990, he became the member of the Presidency of the Serbian Association of Economists. Professor Cvjetićanin participated in numerous domestic and international scientific meetings. He published a large number of papers in the field of operational research, management models and methods and quantitative financial analysis. Professor Cvjetićanin was the editor of the Ekonomska Misao journal.
